How do you transfer frags from plug onto LR?

as stated in the title a noob question, but really disliking the artificial look of plugs in my tank.

I usually break off the stem on the plug and just glue the flat disk on my rock. Once the frag grows you wont notice it anymore.

some encrusting ones will still show the shape of the square/round plate underneath it when it grew and cover the plug. I was thinking using the surgical knife to slice at the glue area and free the frag.

If it hasn't started to encrust you can do that

You can use pruning shears to cut the plug part off and then just glue the coral+plug top to the rock.

I only buy a frag if its encrusted on a plug already. i know its healthy and it will give it a better chance for survival.

I remount all my plugs. Never use plugs I recieved from other people. With that said, I just take a razor blade, dig under the frag and it pops right off the plug. Then glue.

I would imagine he does it to further prevent getting pests from other peoples tanks.

How don't break off the plug? I need to do this with several frags. This is with rock plugs? Help a brother out.

It's to minimize chance of pests. They always come in on frag plugs.

I stopped putting plugs in the tank when I can. Normally just cut the frag off, even if it's encrusted a bit. So I may lose a bit. Though I try to buy fresh cut pieces whenever I can.
I've even had stores cut the encrusted frag off plug and I let them keep the plug. The only time I have not been able to get plug off is with the encrusting monti's. Those are a pain to get off of plug.

I used my pair of bone cutters and the just popped right off. Can't believe I didn't try this before. What a difference. Now I don't need all the bondo to attach everything. I feel like a noob ,lol

I always remove corals from plug until it is encrusted. But I did kill my Rasta zoas by doing so so be careful !
