:irked: This thread is going to get side tracked :lol2:..

The "guy" is a liar and convicted sex offender serving time for child porn. I think the company is now own by someone else that have prior ties with him. This was discovered a year or two after my dealings with him.

I had post questions about the crappy quality MRC skimmer I bought on RC years ago and instead of answering questions and defend his product, he tried to get me ban from the site with the help of a mod that had received a free skimmer from him. I been in the hobby long enough that quit a few mods there knows me personally and defended me, as I was not the only one he tried to mute opinions from. His local dealer had lied and told people in LIRA that I was offered a free replace skimmer and I just wanted to cause trouble, not true and I would not have changed my opinion and being public about it anyway.

4 out of the 5 MRC skimmers I have seen in person had some kind of cracks in the reaction tube to box joint and every one of the beckett tubes leaked, defeating the purpose of having a control valve for air control. Including the two his local dealer was using in his system. Have you looked at the hole where the air control valve goes into the beckett tube? drilling a hole on the side of tube weakens the tube and the hole is not round but oval, and the thread will not hold the valve properly.

Beckett skimmer is not his design and I think it's a poorly copied product with poor craftsmanship and subpar material choices. Barr aquatics improved the beckett concept with a bubble director\plate (similar to what every pin\needle wheel skimmer is doing now), the quality and material used on the skimmer is way better. Each tube to plate joint is in a grooved channel, giving the joint more surface area for a stronger bond, and there are no holes made in any curved surface. It's a shame that Barr has a real job and ended up selling the business to someone else, it was one of the better quality skimmers I have used. I am still holding on to one, just incase I set up a tank in a location where noise is not an issue.

LOl. I hope the thread doesn?t get side tracked. I knew about ----- getting charged with child **** charges, did not know he was convicted. The guy who took over MRC was just a guy who had no real dealings with -----( I don?t want to say his name)
The originals were a little shotty but over time they got better. Yeah granted I had to mod my original MRC skimmers.
As to RC well that?s all political posturing, kind like how this board is getting, or as it seems to me.
I would venture to say just about anyone who has dealing on RC knows one will get ban for just about any reason. Its joke board now really just like my space and the others.
As to the cracks down the reaction tube all of mine (4) have never had any of that. Knock on wood. All the joints are recessed, my becketts don?t leak, not even when I remove the silencer fittings. Yeah my silencer fitting are not tight, tight but one wrap of Teflon tape and its good.
I don?t think ---- ever said he was the original skimmer (maybe I?m wrong) At the AC MACNA I brought my Tee fitting to them since it had a little leak. They saw that I had to put a dab of PVC glue on the seam to stop the leak. No questions asked, replaced it right on the spot. To me that?s service.
To each their own, but I really think your being harsh on a person who took over for an accused dirt bag. I say accused since I have not read or seen anything that says ----- was convicted of child -----
Sorry, but I can not just pounce on someone until they are found guilty. Don?t get me twisted, I find the idea appalling and disturbing but everyone accused has their day in court.
I think the new owners took over, what? 4 years ago? They have made some great changes the MRC lineup and the new skimmers are pretty cool looking. They really have pushed the MRC line farther then ----- would have even thought of.
I have always liked the beckett skimmers, I think they work great. I myself have never had a major problem. The guys who introduced me to the MRC lineup still run the MRC skimmers and they have no problems either.
I guess its one of those one apple situations.
I never used a barr so I can?t comment.
