Like the title says, I just converted a tank of mine into an octopus setup so I would like to try one of these little guys. If anyone has access to one, a smaller species, please let me know what kind and how much. Thanks Fortunato

Very cool ..., I had a blue ringed octopus But their life span is not very long usually around the 2year mark

Good luck! It seems to me that octopus used to be more commonly sold years ago than they are now. I used to see blue rings fairly frequently...I used to see them at Northern Pets (?)- the place on Northern Blvd a block or so away from Main St, near Pro Fishing Tackle. Problem is a) blue rings are poisonous. Not painful poisonous like lion fish, deadly poisonous.
b) regardless of species, they are short lived. Even giant pacific octopus top out at 5 years, usually 2.

No no luck yet. I've spoken to two people that I get my fish from but I'm waiting on hearing from them as for what kind of species they get in. I read on tonmo.com about certain species that are best fitting for specific size tanks so I'm limited to really just one species, possibly two.

I've seen a zebra octopus at this guys place I go to in the past but I havent been to his new warehouse recently so I'm not sure how often he gets them in anymore. Either way I wouldnt want a zebra one because theyre definitely not a beginner species and not cheap either

I didn't realize how annoying it is to try and find a specific species. I read some threads on a cephalopod forum and it's not really definite that you'll get the actual species that an octopus is listed as. I'm looking for a mercatoris or hummelincki octopus because as stated on tonmo.com they would be the only ones that I would be able to accomodate in the size tank I have set up
Thanks for the info. Maybe tomorrow I'll go check it out because I've never been there. Is it a good store to visit in general? I'll be driving 30 minutes or so, so I want the trip to be worthwhile

What size tank? You may have other options.there are several others that have similar requirements.
Well you have to secure the top for one with some type of screen or in my case i just used a sheet of acrylic i had laying around. Then you have to make sure you cover the overflow box. Also need to make sure the slits arent big enough for the octopus to get in, so used some sort of screening i guess, i made my own overflow box for the tank so they werent an issue for me. Then it's said to use a lot of LR, like 1/2 to 3/4 full, and build PVC tunnels and bury them in the sand. And thats really about all i know you need to keep one. I dont think you can keep more than one in a tank, especially not one as small as mine, because if im not mistaking octopus may be cannabilistic
