any Petland store should carry dry reptile sands

No, no. He is not looking for any dry sand. Southdown sand is hard to find nowadays. They are supposed to be "pure" calcium carbonate sand which are low in silicate and other impurities like the typical playsand you find at the hardware store. They are much cheaper than the reef sand that you can buy from reef stores. GL finding them.

Thanks for the clarification and yeah it seems impossible to find :(

I have some. I'll let you know how much later tonight.

Wow, someone must have stockpiled a load of it ;)

Fortunato, I'm sure you know by now that Southdown brand was sold and re-branded about 6-7 years ago to Old Castle. Then Old Castle sold and re-branded to Yardright.

Snatch up all that Dom has to offer. Finding the original red & blue bags of Southdown ain't easy.

I'm not sure if it's still being made or it's just under a different name, probably under a different name. What you should do it contact the manufacture and see if they're still making it and where to get it. You could also go to their web site and see what products that they have. It's possible that another manufacture could be handling it now, something they should be able to tell you who. I wouldn't mention that you're going to use it in a reef tank, just that you used it before in a sandbox and you want to use it again.

Yeah I guess I'll have to try that because I want to add about 2-3 more inches of sand in my DT and 4-5in in my octopus tank so I'll need at least 3-4 bags
