If this is going to be a fish only tank, then I don't see a problem with the lights we've been PM'ing about. If this is going to be a reef, T5's on a 4' tall tank will be inadequate, unless all the coral are kept in the top 20" of the tank.

Hmmm wierd I don't remember where I heard this but I remember hearing something like for taller tanks T-5 was the way to go. Metal Halide has a great "punch" for the first 2 ft but T-5's had better long term penetration depth.

Actually, I wouldn't use T5's on any tank deeper than 20". I wouldn't even go 2' with them........and I've been using T5's since the day I started my tank, about 6 years ago. So I'm a proponent of T5's, but only when used appropriately.
