Hi all my name is Nancy...I have a 12g Aquapod that has been up and running for almost 4 months now. I have posted only a couple of times here so far...yes my clown jumped but my hubby finally saved him (after 3 days).

Anyway, I love the site and have found such valuable info here so far.

I am looking to buy some small frags to help me get my reef going. I have a couple of things so far...candy cane, gsp, torch, 1 ric, favia, and am nursing a sun coral back to health. I am looking for a bubble coral, more rics in brighter colors, and suggestions of other good corals for a beginner and a small reef. I also have a clown and a royal gramma. All are doing very well so far.

I will post pics soon. Any advice on posting pics??

Thanks for reading this post.

Mushrooms, Zoanthid, clove polyps, yellow polyps, green button polyps, xenia, toadstool, leathers, kenya trees. these are all good for beginner tanks. I can make up a frag pack of most of these if you're interested

I have some LPS frags but someone is supposed to pick up tomorrow. If they don't I will let you know.
You will probably not be able to add any more fish. The two you have will probably not allow it. Some would say that what you have is all it can handle but I have had 4 small fish in a 10 gallon. But the order they go in makes a difference and once these two decide what their territory is they will not accept another fish.
The other concern for a small tank is that corals fight by giving off chemicals to hurt other corals and that is besides trying to sting the others. So having a mix of different species will usually work only short term. Some will do very well and others will fade because they are losing the battle. Using carbon helps remove these chemicals.

hi nancy and welcome to our world of obsessions and addictions....lol,

what kind of light and how much of it do you have on the tank? what do you have for flow or circulation? what are your water parameters? how often/amount do you do water change? how much time do you have or willing to spend on the tank? answering these questions may steer you to the right direction. i hope all your corals and fish are on the smallish size. what is small? corals you get shouldn't be much bigger than the mounting disk since you want to have many types. also if you do well enough they will grow and take up quite a bit of room. clown can be 4-5 inches full grown and get somewhat more territorial when they are older. both those fish will probably won't let you add any more fish anyway. so you're pretty much done with fish.

don't spend too much money on the corals in the beginning. your tank is still new and smaller volume of water is harder to maintain at a contant stability. you don't want to be repeatedly replacing that $100 per 1/2" frag of limited edition widget coral that you love and can't do without. even if you have money to burn, it's still not a good idea to waste it on something that may be impossible for one to keep in the first place.

read, read, and read as much as you can. and take all advices with a grain of salt(even this one from me...lol) especially online. try to search and read threads of questions or situations similar to yours. that will help in the long run because sometimes one doesn't even know what are the right questions to ask.
and do you know you can trade corals here as well? this can give you a chance to learn and experience many types of corals without spending too much and getting too crowded. and it's fun.
don't take offense in anything written here. sometimes what one reads is not what the other one meant....that happens a lot online. but people here are very nice. i just joined mr recently also but i've been reefing for a little bit longer.

did i mention read? haha..lol

that said, bimmer01 is a good guy to get your reef started. check out lazibonez also, he has nice zoa's at very reasonable price. there are so many people/vendors here who can sell you stuff at a fraction of the cost compare to the lfs. and most of the time in much healthier condition. i'm still new at mr so i don't know a lot of people/seller/vendor yet but i haven't bought any livestock from the lfs in quite a while.

good luck, enjoy, and happy reefing, tom
