If you guys only knew what you were buying from facility wise from most of those online dealers. :shhh:
I've been to several importers facilities in LAX, they are all near the airport in one area, all but one were dumps.
Most not all
(but I can't name any that) do the following;
Do not import their own fish, if they are not located near a US port of entry that's a clue. International flights do not land in Beavercreek.
What that means is they are getting fish transshipped so the fish are subject to more hands and water changes STRESS.
US Ports
Or they sub contract with a wholesaler to pack under their name, F&S did that for years, but may have their own facility now not sure.
Ship on Mondays, most imported fish arrive on Sunday--out the door on Monday - Tuesday. Did they acclimate fish--no --ship before they breakdown.
Incorrect photo period most pack all night.
I would rather walk into a store see, feed and maybe ask them how long they had the fish or if it's expensive or fragile ask them to hold it a few days.
Cost more yes and no
