Then a photo of the broodstock which nobody touches. ..as they are so big!
Finally MeMe now running a Tonga station who will join us later.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ordered the environment department Saturday to work closely with Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste and Solomon Islands to ensure the sustainable management and conservation of the Coral Triangle in the region.

A Malacañang statement said Mrs Arroyo issued the order after environment secretary Jose Atienza Jr. met with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to discuss enhanced cooperation and strategic measures to protect the marine area.

"We have to work together with our neighbors in protecting this precious natural resource. I have directed DENR to solidify links with the countries bordering the Coral Triangle," she said.

The Coral Triangle is a rich marine area bordering the five neighboring countries and Solomon Islands.

For his part, Atienza noted the Coral Triangle is known to contain more than 500 species of reef-building corals, and abounds with more than 3,000 species of reef fish.

He said its resources directly sustain more than 120 million people living within this area, and support the livelihood, income and food security of millions worldwide.

"Like all other ecosystems, our marine areas, including the corals and all biodiversity found beneath our seas and oceans, are also vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change," Atienza said.

The DENR noted countries in the region experience common problems arising from the devastating impact of climate change like flooding, water shortage, dry season, and the destruction of their marine resources. - GMANews.TV
