I thought the cups were ok too. Until I started using a scale and seeing what 1 gram of product is. About a couple of grains or drops = 1 gram. That is tough to tell with the cups.
Even good bakers use scales rather than relying on cups. It is just more precise imo.

how many of you actually test the water after being mixed ? i mean do you have a temp calibrated refractometer ? do you test the cal, alk and mag ? this was the reason i stopped using it, and i do believe Bob reccomends using a scale as it is more accurate, even though a few ml's dont seem like it would make much of a differance, it really can, especially over a period of time

I started with ESV and switched to reef crystal, my corals don't seem as happy and I am noticing a green algae on my sandbed + hair algae. Definitely going to switch back to ESV as soon as this RC is done.

I test it after sodium, and it usually reads a slightly lower. Then after all the parts, including the liquids, salinity reads perfect. I'm using a Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer. Calibrated with RO each time before use, cause it's just that easy with it!

Same here and that's why I love using this salt. Every time I mix it gives me perfect 1.025. It may seem complicated to mix with all the components but the true is it's easier to get the correct salinity with esv.

it isnt getting the salinity that is the problem. a little more here of part a and a little more there of part b and the other componets are way out of whack. loved the salt myself, but is more work then i wanted to do to make a salt mix,
