Damn, Iwaki's are nuts on power - the only thing is that Ampmasters are like 180w at 3000 gph, but you don't ge the head pressure. This new pump (coming today) has a shut off rating of 37' - that's crazy!!!!!! I can pump to my roof if I need to :)

FYI - OM's is working on a trademark to put penductors into a PVC Slip coupler's - that is a nice feature and I will look to buy them next year. In the meantime, can you shoot me the link to the penductors you bought

Thanks,

Jim

hey Jim,

guys I went to Jim's house today, nice house, house
, his new tank is going to rock. everything is well thought out, and viewing the tank is going to be really cool. the basement has a low ceiling as basements do, it's going to give the tank viewing room a real cozy feel.

Jim is the only way into the basement down those stairs? if so you might want to build a sled to slide the tank down. that's going to be killer on those narrow stairs. I was thinking about this on the drive home ;)

Jonathan, I was there last night and I agree...it will be amazing. After reading a few threads here on the start-up of a new large tank (House, Jackson6745 and Ricordiaking), it's obvious that planning is priority 1.

I believe I saw a door downstairs off to the right when you come down the steps. Good news for Jim.

Talking about planning, I have a question about tanks, like this one, that are placed in walls. It seems it would rather hard to clean the glass from the back. I guess you need to either do it from the back of the tank with a bush or use magnets and connect it first from the back and then go to the front and clean the glass.

Anyone that has a tank in the wall how do you keep up with cleaning the front glass.

Marrone,

PLanning (phase 2)

After the tank is in place, I will be framin out the sheetrock and making a door above the tank fro front access - has been part of the plan from day 1.

Jhale, Deanos, thanks for the comments (Jennie you missed out :)

I am glad you liked the tank, and the new set-up. I haven't had much sleep lately as this planning stuff runs through my head all night :) J, since you came today (and gave me feedback) I've decided to redesign the shelves that will hold the frag tank and fuge tank. So, until it is all up and running, it is truly a work in progress :)

Dean, thanks for looking out and yes I may just ask some beer distributor to loan me one of those things that allows the beer boxes to get into basements - We'll see.

Hey Jim,

are you talking about those ramps with rollers on them?
if so try to get two. you can roll the tank on one, and keep moving the other in front of the tank

Jim,

I had to move a "heavy" 150 gallon down to my basement not too long ago. I ended up laying down two pieces of 2x4 over the steps, tied the tank up with some heavy duty rope and slid the tank down the steps on the two 2x4s. I didn't have any room in the narrow stair well for people to hold the tank if we were to walk it down.

Let me know which day you plan to move the tank, I will take a ride with Rich if he is driving. More hands standing around doing nothing is better than one hand short and no one is standing around. :D

Ok, people -

First let me say thanks to the horsepower who helped out with the picking up and moving of the new tank - props to RicordiaKing, Pseudo Boy, Jackson and my buddy Patrick for flexing the muscle and moving this work of art.

Before I get to the pictures of the tank, here is the final minor plumbing -

And last but not least - the full tank in the space without the molding around the edges -

That was fun :D . I can't wait to see this thing running.

Hey Jim I tried the Panworld 200ps on 2 penductors.....it's too strong for my tank. You'll definitely need more than 2 outlets for it.
