Since your a new member, hello and welcome.

Since I'm sure you have not used this site alot, odyssea fixtures pop up every now and then and they get killed on this site, but then the people who have actually owned one will chime in and speak the truth.

Personally, I have owned 8-10 of them. From PC to T5 to halide. I have never had an issue with them except the fact that it is cheaply built. People will post "ohh they catch on fire" well years ago their fixture ballast had issues and over heated on the halide fixture. Since then they have totally replaced every fixture they had with new "slim style" fixtures. Personally, I like them, and if your only doing a planted tank, the T5 would be great for you. Problem is the bulbs they come with are junk. They all need to be replaced. The ballast is not that great and strong either, but your getting what you pay for. lately they have been getting great reviews. Personally, I'll never own one again now that I own a TEK light, but I'm just saying. Good light. For you for a planted is good. Cheaply made. Bulbs suck, but great maybe for just the shell and ballasts. Most people replace the bulbs right away in most fixtures to get there desired color K. Stock color is about 10k.

Also, why eBay? www.aquatraders.com is there site.

Thanks for the welcome and the input. That's what's been confusing, great reviews but i know its not top quality. Right now i have my 48" WavePoint t5 4x54w on my 40b(planted)...(way too much). i would like to find a replacement for that so i can put the WavePoint back on my 72 bow, which is a work(reef) in progress. I guess i'm just trying not to spend a fortune.

You have to wonder about a light like that with that price and free shipping. At $86 you figure about $30 of that is going towards shipping so at $56 they're still making enough profit to put the time into processing the order. Seems questionable to me.

Save your money and buy a MUCH BETTER fixture. Cheap in this hobby now means more costly in the long run.

It IS for a planted tank. I have a WavePoint for my marine tank. I know ppl on this forum would know the fixtures better than other forums. That's why I asked for the advice here.hought about it and it DOES make sense...after replacing bulbs and what not, I might as well get a better fixture. Thanks guys. Now...who's got an old t5 fixture for sale?

What length?

The mods will most likely make you make another thread in the want to buy section. Should not be hard to find people with one on here though, seeing most members here are using t5 or LEDs

I own a light fixture from Odyssea so far no problems for me. Just have to keep on changing the light bulbs every 6 months.

I'm so confused. If you have to change the bulbs every 6 months, how can this be no problem? Something isn't right with a fixture if you must change bulbs every 6 months. Either that or you're running your bulbs for 14-16 hours per day. :shocked1:
