I use to be all for it and thought it was a fun way to ID corals now I find it boring, drab, and played out past the point of annoying especially if your trying to charge too much for a coral
Mabey they are try to make a big name to make up for a small body part lmfao

i dont believe in over the top priced corals that's $150 an eye or polyp.
but i think corals should have names so you know which one is which.
I agree with common names to avoid tying up your tongues with strange scientific terms but in reality it's just a pricing gimmick nothing more , this is why it is good to know especially if your new to the hobby and some schlep is trying to sell you a tea biscuit as a rare double green- bubble gum - Wookie - endor chalice!! Lol I have seen it happen before . I think it's a shame but what can u really do about it other than educate yourself on corals.
By the way jerl good thread.
There are not to many people out there in it for the hobby anymore its all about making money
