If you have the Linksys router already you don't need to use the Westell, the Linksys should support the PPOE connection on it's own.

No they still need the Westell to go from DSL to ethernet.

Exactly. Verizon will not recognize the Linksys or any other modem not installed and authorized by them. Therein I think lies the problem. I have Fios at home (35/35) and it is amazing but I think there support for DSL users is quickly waning. This is a shame really. And in this case it is 100% the Town of Brookhavens fault.

Haven't used DSL in years, thought it went the way of ISDN; the Westell 7500 has an integrated modem I take it.

Yea this thing really baffles me, I've done plenty of port forwarding setups before at home and for others and never had such problems. I mean I work on cisco switches and ASA firewalls all day at work, this should be simple.
