Of the reputation he has

Reputation...pffft :)

Mine is a pussy-cat to the other fish. The only fish he ever squared off with was my jaw-fish and I think that was more for fun as no scales ever flew and they lived for years together.

The only downside I have seen from this guy is you can keep absolutely nothing on the sand bed - like clams or frags - because they will roll it around looking for pods underneath and you need to glue all frags - he can pick out something new in a tank in a nano-second and will check it out (ok...attempt to move it) to see if anything is under there.
I make sure my aquascaping is secure - but that is a good idea anyway :)

You can't beat the looks of this fish though, they are stunning!!

I wish you luck on trying to catch him..he is without a doubt the smartest fish I have..and FAST.

To catch a tough fish, I try and get it to one side of the tank while feeding, or by scaring it using graspers, etc. Then I drop in a piece of plexiglass sheet which I have laying around from my sump baffles. I use it to create an invisible wall which I slowly move in to corral, and then catch whichever fish I am after.

I usually dont have to move much rock doing it this way, just a few pieces to close off any escape routes.

last time i caught my damsels by using "the trap" which is essentially the water bottle trick, except you cant just put food in. my fishes react to my turkey baster loaded with brine so all i did was slowly squirt the brine into th trap until the target fish, as well as 5 other fishes, made their way inside. close the door and out it comes

Thats what i want...the freebie seekers netting around my tank! Splashing water everywhere and hitting corals.

lol everyone will show up with their fishing poles and will have a fishing tournament, lol

or the tank will be dewtroyed from dirty hands spashing around knocking all the rocks and coral over...

just enjoy the fish.. lol your stuck with him..

If you learned anything in this hobby it's that patience is a virtue. Revisit the idea of the bottle trap but do it smart not harder.

Use a larger bottle, I use ocean spray cranberry juice bottle. Cut the top and turn it in like everyone's instructions say to do but before you reverse the top into the bottle put a mirror on the bottom of the bottle so when a fish looks into a bottle they catch a reflection.

With the addition of the mirror i was able to catch 2 sixline wrasse (!) and my flameback angel who was learning each day I upgraded my trap design. :bagfish:

i recently caught a wrasse in my tank. i did the bottle trick many times but never went in. so finally i had the idea to turn off my lights a little early and to monitor where the wrasse slept. i saw where it went and scooped up the sand plus the wrasse easily! i was jumping for joy beyond belief
