The next time I go to florida I have to look out for the guy running around with his spray bottle spraying the mangroves and ken that not a bad idea even tho for sure I don't believe in this spray theory case I don't spray nothing on them and they are out of control

Hey dubs i dont get your above statement. Lol - it does rain outside.

I know people who have had success both ways. With or without spraying... A spray bottle takes half a second to spray and if you have salt spraying or creeping on them you should definitely spray them.

Some people also run a air stone, some mud, some sand, some live rock.

Whatever works I guess, personally I would spray once in a while.

Good idea. I sprinkle mine with a little r/o water every time i top off (every 3 days). And have a 36w led fixture on mine. I also have mine planted in a mix of mineral mud and live sand topping.

Huh? Idk I lived there for 8 years and it sure did rain and it sure is windy. I lived in boca, west palm beach, Miami and coconut creek. Different areas in fl rain more than others and yearly weather varies. It's definitely not a desert climate and I'm sure climate and weather change has its effect on them. We just dont see it because there are uncountable amounts
of mangroves.

I'm definitely not attacking you -
I just couldn't hold back when you made a comment about someone running around with a spray bottle in the wild...because it rains. Lol

In the wild things are obviously always changing - Mangroves are actually pretty hardy and they adapt.

Many people have success without spraying fresh water on them. The mangroves filter out the salt through their leaves.

In the wild many things remove the excess salt from the leaves. Two of them being - rain and wind. This doesn't happen in your tank and obviously can cause a decline of health.

The best idea is to daily/weekly/monthly spray.... I can't see anyone actually denying the fact it can benefit them.

Mangroves should be sprayed to eliminate salt creep. The leaves contain pores called stomata that need to "breathe" in order to exchange water vapor and CO2. If these pores are clogged, there is a good chance that the leaves will brown and fall off.

Dubs, if your system doesn't have a lot of salt creep, you may not need to mist them, but the general practice in the hobby is to mist them in order to keep them healthy.
