What's the largest anemone you've seen in captivity? I remeber Manhattan Aquariums had a few RBTAs that were at least 15 inches in diameter and taller than that. They were in the huge cylinder tank.

There's also a huge (100s of gallons) anemone/clown tank at the Long Island Aquarium. It was literally full of anemones. Wall to wall. I haven't been there in a few years though and don't remember individual sizes or species. I'm almost positive they were BTAs but couldn't say for sure.

some carpets can get pretty huge, had to move one once and put it on a 5 gallon bucket lid and still hung over by like 6 inches all around the lid

I used to have an LTA over 24" at the base-the top is so big I can never see it in full glory with a tank only 24" deep. My current RBTA(a clone from James of Acan Light originally) is about 6" at the base and when fully extended and looking from the top is about 12"

I have seen some pretty big carpets but the largest anemone recorded was the close to the size of a vw bug in diameter not girth. It was a mertens or magnifica i gotta look it up.

Definitely. I'd love to hear more about that.

I just heard about an s. haddoni that was four foot in diameter. It was in a store in Michigan for a while until someone bought it.

Sorry still lookin for the info and high boost whats a PBTA? Usually that is a sign of too much light. Usually from being taken from the ocean and then kept under no light then to a retailer with no light and then to your good light

Let me check again

Unfortunately i can find the exact wording but here is info from national geographic

They run the full spectrum of colors and can be as small as half an inch (1.25 centimeters) or as large as 6 feet (1.8 meters) across.

I remember helping the Schiemer family out when Greg was sick in the hospital and he had a 90g that had the largest captive RBTA I have ever seen - took up the whole tank and had multiple pairs of different clown species living in it.

Here is the clam they took out of the other 90 that was plumbed to the anemone tank.

Spectacular.

Selkoner, that Nem is very nice, but in the pic it looks like its only a foot max. The colony might be two feet.

House... Awesome. I bet that anemone was a sight to see!
