I am setting up a 57gal blue sea rimless SPS tank. I've been out of the hobby for a while and I'm not sure which skimmer is the best choice for the money.
I considered the warner marine mf 161 but they are back ordered for a while.
Would a reef octopus or SWC be good alternatives? I don't have a "budget" but I don't believe in paying big $$ just because it says Deltec or Bubble king etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

small foot print too

using a 20000K 50w LED muliti chip that is as bright as a 250MH lamp!

Mike I would need to buy a new stand to fit the BK ;)

Thanks for the suggestion Frank. I have been leaning towards that small footprint octopus

Thanks MBG, I looked at the seaside aquatics skimmer (CS-1) which is the same price of the Reef Octopus 1000SSS. The Seaside only pulls half of the air the the Octopus does???
Specs say air intake is only 420l/h on the seaside while the Octopus is 900l/h.

We'll see Mike :) I ordered everything that I need except for rock. I should be running in a week or 2.

Sam that is probably overkill for a 60gal :) I know the SRO's are good. I just found a couple threads where guys changed to skimz and liked them better. I haven't seen any of these skimmers run in person so I am just going on opinions of others. Once I really get back in the hobby I'm sure I'll be changing all kind of equipment :)

Skimz 181 getting vinegar bath. looks good so far. Definitely well made and the pump seems to be sucking a ton of air.
