I have this friend who kept forgetting to turn off the water while filling containers with RO/DI. Maybe you know someone like this ?

the problem was solved with a simple and cheap kent float valve.

installing it was easy. just drill a 1/2" hole in the container of your choice. put the connector through and screw on the holding nut. the 1/4" tubing is held in place by a plastic compression nut.
don't forget to use some teflon tape for the connector.

there is a dial to adjust the height of the valve.

My friend ( ;) ) flooded his whole building that way.

He could have saved himself alot of grief if he had one of those there contraptions.... also.

I have not heard of one breaking, yet.

I did read of one that leaked from the conection, but it was defective. It happened right away. meaning if it works when you install it your buddy is good to go.

there was a rumor of a group buy a while ago.

it did not happen.

I would suggest at the next R.S.A (RO Spillers Anonymous) meeting that this be put at the front of the to do list.

I assume these would also work if one set up an auto top-off system? I have no place for a real one, but figure for every-day a bucket of water next to the tank might work. How do these things work exactly? I can't figure it out.

Incidentally, I only use the RO/DI unit with the bucket in the bath-tub because I do always forget that it's running and it inevitably runneth over.
