Did you forget that most, if not all major American consumer products mfg is producing it in China? Hence the reason why you won't find made in America even on American branded products...like Apple.

I completely agree with Duke.

Yes, unfortunately everything is made in China. However, all american companies have QC procedures in place that test every single aspect of there products before shipping to the states. Chinese manufactures (can't be said 100% across the board but, all Chinese manufactures that I've dealt with had the following mentality) do all they can to cut corners. If it looks good it will sell. Period! Quality isn't a factor because most of their customers are thousands of miles away.

Any product made in any country has their ups and downs. You need to see customer reviews before any judgement. I bought a $200 made in USA heater(for my electronics, it dies after say 10 runs) I replaced is with a $89 China made soldering iron heat blower combo, it runs for 3 years already with only 1 head change(I need to change at least 30 TSR soldering iron heads for the same amount of usage.) I drop it at least 50 times over the year. My new partner in Florida drop it 20 times in 2 3 days and finally broke the shell. I open it to remove the debris, it runs again. What does that tell you? Where does it made is not an issue, it's the product in particular you should pay attention to. User reviews is very useful tool. For the critical members, why don't we wait for those who are willing to test and report before we jump to conclusion. For the bold to try, make sure you accept the consequence if they are junk. BTW, I have to add to the story of the heat blower, the same USA heat blower is now sold at under $50 from some major electronics suppliers while they are also offered by other major electronics supplier at $159. We don't always got what we pay for and NOT all American firms have good QC procedures either.

I am thinking of ordering the water diffuser. Looks like it is compact and effective. Great price too. I may order 2.

For $85 I would be VERY cautious. I guess for that price though, it might be worth checking out one. If they are THAT good, maybe it will reduce the price of a real MP40.

I am not rich, but i am educated customer, good point Peteyboyny, try to
contact or complain to http://www.fish-street.com/ Fish-street is founded in 2000 as a typical ?Asia direct sales? pet store in Hong Kong. NO address, NO tele. #.:shhh:

Just like the chinese leds, I bought these as soon as I heard of them and saw what they could do. Then, I had to rip them apart and test them myself to see if they were actually legit products that weren't made like crap. Like those Evergrow fixtures, these pumps are legit too. I actually just sold my MP40s in my 125 gallon after I saw for myself what these can do.

These pumps are AWESOME for $105 (shipping included). If I wanted to use it specifically as a wavemaker, ONE of these makes a 2"+ wave in my tank. Its insane, and I'll post a video of it later. It also has a random reef crest type mode that works pretty well. Like the Tunze pumps, they are MUCH quieter than my MP40s were. It has no speed control, but you can buy a universal laptop adapter with voltage sliders from 12-24v for $15 to lower the speed of the pump down from full blast. It works just like the Tunze power supply voltage sliders.

Not only that, the Reef Angel guys have hacked it to work with their controller, and we have hacked it to get it working with an Apex too. All it needs is a $20-45 module for the Apex, and some simple DIY wiring to get it working. I posted a quick how-to on RC.

I'm waiting on my second module to install into my second pump, which would allow me to sync my two pumps. If I synced these at 100% intensity making a wave, I would spill water over the sides.

Customer service is probably non-existant (unlike Evergrow, they are awesome), and time will tell if these pumps last, but you are basically getting quiet pumps that push just as much or more water than a Tunze 6105 and Vortech MP40, for 1/4th the price. No extra heat in the tank either.

Two WP-40s with Apex module mod - $290. With laptop adapter speed mods, no apex - $240

Two MP40s with WXM module - $1055

No brainer. Its about time someone came out with a reasonably priced powerhead like this.

This is my tank with 2 of these pumps unsynced at full blast W1 wave mode. Look at the fish swimming for their lives not to get blown away. lol

I highly recommend the speed mod, or else its just too much flow most of the time. I would never run my tank full blast like this.

Forget the pumps, that is one nice aquascaped tank

cool, quick question bhazard451, so at the regular reef crest speed of the wp40s, what would that equate to compared to the MP40s (ie 25%, 50%, 75%)

Somewhat. Its hard to explain. It ramps up an down and streams at different intensities, but doesn't make waves. It makes a nice random flow. They call it "ELSE" mode. You have to put your ear up to the magnet to hear it, but you can hear the pump randomly going up and down. It's pretty cool.

The apex mod keeps the original controller in the chain, so the random mode will still work without writing an apex profile. I just make intensity profiles for different times of the day if I use that random mode. Ex. AM intensity = 50% max. Midday Intensity = 90% max. Night = 45% max.
