Asia Pacific in general is low wage. If you are going to be a humanitarian then I suggest you include every single low wage Country in your sympathies.
Also, I assume that you know the history of Countries like the Philippines, Singapore, China, India and others.
Just a few decades ago these Countries could not provide enough employment for their citizens. Industrialization begins with manufacturing which directly correlates to cheap labor.
Stop the ignorant talk about cheap wages in China for workers of Aquarium products. NEWS FLASH the same people making the aquarium products probably made your $1500.00 flat screen TV as well in one of those mega manufacturing plants.
Labor is China is cheap, its 7 billion people and those employed are grateful for it. In 20 to 50 years China will transition to a Services country and cheap manufacturing will transfer elsewhere.
THIS IS NOT THE LABOR DEPARTMENTS FORUM and frankly some of you understand very little about the current state of the manufacturing of consumer products.
Because a product made in Asia is expensive in the USA does not mean the manufacturer PAID EXTRA FOR MANUFACTURING, SAME CHEAP LABOR!!!!!!!!!!!
JEBO PROGRAMMABLE PUMP FEED BACK AND INFORMATION PLEASE!!!

Ninja i think chinese people are some of the hardest working people in this world. But can you have pride in your work making 8 dollars per day 7 days a week? Chinese minimum wages are 175 dollars per month on a 7 day work week.No im not chinese I am a humanitarian. If a chinese company had a factory that paid there workers a fair pay scale i would probably look into there products. As for this pump i can honestly say i have no faith it will be a reliable pump just from there aquarium related track record

http://www.jeboaquarium.com/Product Index.htm
Here is a list of JEBO products. Has anyone used there equipment before? If so tell us your expierence with the product and customer service

Its actually not Jebo, its Jebao. www.jebao.com

Similar name, but not the same company. Jebo is hit or miss quality wise. I think I bought a UV sterilizer from them awhile back. It worked but wasn't anything special.

Like i said i try my hardest not to buy anything made in other counties if they dont have fare pay wages. Im not going into the other countries we are talking about this product made in China. Reason i dont shop at Walmart and the reason i wont shop at harbor freights. Sometimes it is unavoidable in thoses cases i choose wisely. I am choosing wisely not even to considr buying this pump :)

See, this is a funny as hell post, I am typing and laughing out loud.

Def dont want to get caught with one of those.

Off topic post here. I've got to inject some humor. I'm guessing Mayor Bloomberg will outlaw the Jebo UV Sterilizer. How can they market an Ultra Violent Sterilizer. :banghead:

Ok back to the originally scheduled programming. :)

I ordered one of these pumps after following the RC thread for a over a week. Its amazing how the RC thread is over 50 pages long and it is completely centered around discussion of the pump. The members there have posted videos on performance and HOWTO s on integrating it into various controllers. A lot of good information that helped me make a decision. Why can't we get the same thing going on ManhattanReefs? Its a new product. Just like Tunze and Vortech were at one time. I'm more willing to test a $100 product then a $450 one. We all know products that have failed, no matter what the cost. We take a chance with everything that touches our tanks. How many people got wiped out by bad heaters or a bad batch of carbon? I'm not one for taking risk but we can't dismiss it because its new or made in china or we would all still be using bubble pumps and underground filters. (Yeah, thats what I started with in the 70's).

No kidding!!!
I have been in talks with deuce_bigelow, seller of leds because I am considering switching to leds once my bulb change comes up.
All my bulbs will cost me about $250.00 to refresh and the chiller that I am considering I may be better off checking out the leds as a means to control temperature and just supplement the summer days with the wall AC on auto settings since you mention since you already did a PAR test.
this deuce_bigelow can custom leds with moonlights and individual power cords with warranty for a very affordable price but I will add the one?s you mention.

People become sore and try to justify spending 400% more money when something comes along and does the exact same thing for less. It happens every time.

I did a test on my own tank side by side in RC and showed the Evergrow LED unit putting out the same amount of PAR as the Radion Pro, with better color, and people wouldn't accept that either. "Oh it cant be better" "Oh but marketing and customer service... etc etc". Now those things can't be restocked quick enough, because people finally realized the performance is there for half the price (even less through a group buy).

Same thing applies here. Not once did I say MP40s were bad pumps, but immediately people chime in with "oh it cant be better" "Oh its gonna break and electrocute your tank", "Chinese junk", "Oh but marketing and customer service..." etc etc.

As a consumer, its up to you to make your own decisions about how you want to spend your money, and not be deceived by marketing or the "it costs more so its better" mindset. I'd take a great value over a nuanced premium anyday, and I don't buy $200 frags either. At the end of the day, these things just push water.

I will say, just as a general rule, things that are more money are usually that price for a reason. Be it high quality materials, technology, design, whatever.

If this Chinese pump was as good as vortech, then we wouldnt be debating if it was better, it would already be the standard for all reefers.

yes, there are high end items that truly do have high end components and or innovating newly released technology.

BUT

There are also plenty of consumer products with generic guts and fancy packaging so the high price does not always mean the product is exclusive and high end.

In the case of this pump, I would not be surprised that it may be selling well in Europe and Asia but not yet in the US. Heck, the pump could be a waste of money but we wont know that unless people stick to the topic at hand.

The thread is to inquire, test and get feedback on the pump to see if finally reefers can have a programmable pump without having to cringe at the price.

Too new for that. They've only been available for a few weeks, but word is starting to get around. The fact that they've been hacked already to run on a Reef Angel and Apex is just awesome and very promising. I just hope more people start using it on an Apex so I can start copying some profiles. I'm terrible at making profiles, but a few Tunze profiles I tried work nicely on it.

Well. Maybe it will be after its in production for more than a couple of months. Its already the talk of the blogs. Hopefully time will tell and we might be on a downward cost spiral along with the leds.
