How much water did you need for 'top off'? Sounds like you added a lot to make the tank cloudy! Waiting too long increases your salinity

we do the same thing all the time its just this R/O water was cloudy.. nothing that we did was wrong we just did a water change. lol and the salinity is not increased its at 1.025 where we always have it. it was jsut the water. everything is still fine rite now. nothing seems to be wrong water starting to loose cloudyness tad bit still foggy tho.

@saltyyyyyyyinbrooklyynn! i no i have to get a rodi system there's nothing wrong with the youth these days. and having a rodi system can ruin alot also. could make you flood your floors :P that's on the person not paying no mind tho :P

so today me and my girl went to max reef to get some R/O water ...
so we get home and we do a water change. and start putting them into the tank. now the water is starting to get cloudy, now im like WTF is going on...

i dident mix any salt. i only went to get r/o water. to top off the tank.

nothing that we did was wrong we just did a water change. lol and the salinity is not increased its at 1.025 where we always have it

First you said you did a WC... then you said you didn't mix any salt...now you say you did a water change... ?????

You posted in Maximum's forum, suggesting they caused a problem, but IMO, your story does not (yet) make sense!

If you saw the water was cloudy, Why did you added it to the tank. I agree with Alfie. If it turned your tank cloudy it most of been a lot of water you were adding. From what i understand you did not add salt to the water, Don't know how much you added but depending on the size of your tank it may have been too much water to add at one time. Also did you heat the water. Depending on the amount you added it might be a problem if the water was cold.

Jesus, number one. Be easy on my bf lol he's not the most graceful at explanations. We use carib'seawater. No mixing salt water for us. The water is always heated to 76 degrees give or take a little. And I do the same water change I always do. 5% every 3-4 weeks. Nothing different on our end besides where the RO water came from. And we obviously didnt see the water was cloudy or they would have been returned or not purchased. The containers are frosted plastic.

Robs girl to the rescue lol.
I would call max reef and ask if they were max reefs jugs or they belonged to somebody else that gets rodi from them.
If it turns out to be the latter. Maybe the person that owns the jugs uses kalk in their top off water. If so, and you needed to add a large amount of water,it would make your tank cloudy. No harm most likely, as you would really just get a ph spike.
Have your girl Test your ph and see if its higher than normal. If so this may be the issue.
Do you see any sediment in the bottom of the container. Sort of like talcum powder.
My bet is it is kalk residue.

Nothing worse than "Dirty Juggs" or "Jugs" that you have no idea where they have been before you get your hands on them ;)

On a serious note this is NOT the hobby to cheap out on or be lazy with......I'm surprised they filled them like that unless they knew there was nothing in them that could have caused an issue.

+1 My guess is kalk. Check for a PH spike, and a rise in Calcium and Alk. Disagree it isn't bad though. Not the worst but my ATO went screwy one time and dumped a bunch of Kalk in my tank so it was cloudy. Hardy corals like Z&P's were mad but fine but I killed a few chalices. Reason why I bought BRS dosers and ditched the Kalk

ok just want to say im not blaming them for the cause. we do have phosphates now there at 1.0 we didn't have any before we put the water in. they were frosted juggs so i wasn't able to see any cloudy water and didn't think of even looking cause the water i always get is clear. there was no salt residue on the bottom i looked last night. they were used cribasea water juggs for you who didn't understand me. yes we did a water change and the put the rodi water into the tank after the water from our tank was dumped out. i dont no if it is a rodi system there using or what but yea.
