No Power??!! Post Here for others

I just got back from stings/steve in Queens they have no power.

My parents in Westchester have no power either.

If you know an area without power please post it here,

and if there any reefers who need help please post their

names and contact numbers here.

I believe the last number I heard was 20,000 people in Lower Westchester are without power. They are all over the place when trees fell and hit power lines. So far so good for me but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I haven't been home since 1pm and won't return until early morning...:headache: I suppose I could come back to a very dead tank, if not a very angry downstairs neighbor with a wet ceiling.

at work in long island city there was no power. they cut it around 11:30, all that worked in the office was my radio and a small fan. that fan barely worked though. i hate when con ed causes brown outs

There were also massive subway problems on the E/F line earlier today. What puzzles me is why this is happening today. The heat has died down; shouldn't this have happened over the 2 previous days? I shut off my AC before I left because it wasn't that hot anymore. I'm sure I wasn't alone.

power outage in Northern NJ last night for three hours. Fish survived and I'm lucky since I had no back up plan. Better start reading the thread on emergency generators and UPS.

lol, yeah i plan on getting an ups soon, but went to fishtown and picked up a battery airstone for now just in case

Jenny, that's better than nothing. I keep one of those Azoo pumps around. Has dual outlets and i could set it for full or interval use. I will never be caught unprepared again.

So sorry Astoria... I was just watching NY1 news and found out that large protions of Astoria has not had power for at least two days now. I have been lucky, and have not lost power at all.

NY1 was broadcasting a couple of blocks from me on Ditmars Blvd., and I had no idea.

Matt it seems Queens is the worst hit in the city.

If you could help cordinate getting people help in queens that would be great.

of course part of the problem is getting in touch with people.

limited power in Woodside, Queens. 2 nights so far. Finally got some juice going to the basement so I ran an extension to the second floor to plug in the pumps and the fridge.

3 dead fish
1 star fish
Not sure how many snails dead.
Leathers metling.
Zoos all closed up.
Mushrooms look ok.

Did a massive water change 2 days in a row. Tank is starting to smell foul. Running carbon.

Any other advice welcome.

remove everything that is dead or dying from the tank asap.

Leathers often droop when stressed. How can I tell if its dying. Maybe it will just shed and recover.

I am headed out of town tommorow morning for the weekend. I can hold some items for people, but they would need to get it to me tonight. I will not be available again untill monday night, but hopefully the power issue will be over with by then.

Wish I had known that there was such a power issue in queens (I really was blissfully ignorant).

They can either post here (I subscribed to the thread), assuming that they have access at work etc. etc., or if you know someone who needs help, PM me and I will give you my number so that they can contact me.
