I don't have air conditioner in my living room, my tank doesn't get cold at all during summer I manage to keep the temp at 76 77 some times 79

Buy a controller. If you dont, you might as well toss all the money you spent in your tank on a fire. It might not fail now, or this winter, but it will fail.

I love people that spend thousands of dollars on a tank and trust it all to a $30 piece of equipment. Pure brilliance.

Also best to have multiple smaller heaters then one big. Never even thought to unplug mine. They are on a controller and built in regulator set just above controller temp so feel pretty good.

Thank you doing it now!

I would go with an Apex over the reef keeper lite. I've owned both. Reliability of the reef keeper is not nearly as good as the apex.

Mine is hooked up to my controller. I leave it alone to keep stability.

Me too. You never know what the temp in the house will do.

On a side note, I replace my heaters rather often. At least once per year. They're just too cheap to keep for longer than that, especially when so many get stuck in the on position and can fry your tank (less risk of this happening with a controller but still). I know it sounds crazy, but heaters should cost more and come with better parts.

It's very interesting what everyone does. I have three heaters in the sump and uses Alex controller. To stay on the save side I'll take out two of the heaters and just leave one on controller. One is more than enough to warm the water as I'm more concern if a heater explodes in my tank and kill the whole tank.

Will also change the heater every other seasons just to be save. Also hoping taking out two of the heater will prolong its life and from malfunction quicker.
