Any one no what this pepermint shirmp is doing??!?

Last night when the moon lights were on i saw the pepermint shrimp my girl added about a few weeks back, i saw him on thetree rack where the sps were he was picking at the sps, i Dont no what he was doing up there but he made the sps like slime up so im not sure if he was eatting it or what. or if they even do eat coral. Please help THanks.

Could be eating it Rob. I had bad luck with peppermints eating my lps. Are those from the carribean?

dont no. my girlfriend said they dont eat sps, maybe cause i woke her up at 1am telling her whats wrong. i have a viddeo too. it looked like it was eatting it. i think im going to take it out later on when she comes home. cause i cant have it eatting everything in grannys tank. :/ no bueno.

i bought it at max reef i did not ask where they came from. i should have i guess.

I doubt it. During the day they don't want to go up there as it is dangerous, but at night when the lights are off they venture a bit further. On the plug they find critters and other things to eat.

there is no plug. and it was at 1am no lights were on. and the fans were off.

he was pokeing at the top of the sps to the middle.

They eat coral polyps i have seen one eating acan it killed the acan and then it was munching on my torch i was pissed to say the least and the pepermint is in my sump now

pep def mucnh on corals i had some shread my fragspawn and hammer colony in the past so its a know fast they eat corals u do get good one that dont bother corals thoi but some def do eat corals keep a eye on them

No had one that messed with my zoas, but they also don't live long, longest I was able to keep was like 3 months.

I watched my peppermint pull the polyp right out of a pagoda coral. No doubt about what it was doing. I haven't had one since. May have been a bad seed though.

i no its eatting that acro, she does not want to belive me. you can clearly see its picking the top and the middle of the sps.

My peppermints always cleans new frags put into the frag tank. Never saw it kill anything. I have 2 peppermints in my 10 gallon frag tank

I had 2 peppermint shrimp to rid my tank of aiptasia (which they did)then they ate my large colony of my setosa then my raspberry and pink ricordea yuma(very rare and hard to find)and the last straw was my red planet...They are optimistic eaters,with the lack of food(cause my fish never let a grain of food hit the sandbed)they will scavenge whatever could be edible.get rid of it!

Mine are always on my frag racks..espicially new frags they clean it i think...i Ve been watching them so far No d amage...they go there at night...i also make sure they eat i have six shrimps in my tank and never see them eat zoa...coral banded. fire shrimp peppermint shrimp......all frags are growing Thi k ok...if I were you and saw damage they would be in sump asap...
