Wow, I'm really liking this thread now. 
First, thanks for all the tips & concerns. Lots of lessons learned.
I have done a lot of reading and more reading about eurobracing
So I applied what I learned from other reefers who had the same issue.
I did put the brace on top of the tank. Plus the brace itself is 72" x 3" x .5". Specifically cut just for this purpose. And it cost a lot
..... Shhh my wife doesn't know it yet...
As I mentioned before I did put the water level down before clamping & measuring & bracing.
Tomorrow I will be removing the clamp. Crossing my finger that it will hold.
Btw: I will put 2 braces in the middle for more secure structure. Wish me luck!!!
