Well maybe not the tank but.....

Long Story short, I just moved to my new place, upgraded to a 90gal. Btwn the tank, sump, sand and rock, u figure about 1000-1200 lbs on my floor. I live on the 6th Floor.

If for any reason, i had a leak, or tank cracked, that would be a lot of water in the downstairs apartment.

Has anyone else gotten insurance as a safety measure against this

Find out if renter's insurance would cover the damage done to the building. I don't think you will find any carriers to insure the actual tank if it cracked, or at least not for a premium that would make sense.

Ask your insurance company about it. They have insurance nfor everything. I have medical insurance for some of my fish.

It's worth it and not that expensive. If your fish gets ich there is no need to set up a hospital tank. You just bring it to the vet. One of my sharks crashed into a rock and got cut. The insurance company got some one to transport the shark to the vet and for the vet to stich her up. That would have cost me thousands of dollars.

Everyone should consider look into it. I use petassure.

A shark is toally different. Walk into the vet with a yellow tang in the bag and they will know you arw crazy. Nto mention wont know how to treat it.

Well, flood insurance is hardly 'insuring your tank'.

They did ask me when starting my HOME (house) insurance policy, if I have any pets, and also if I have any WATER CONTAINING FURNITURE.

I remember when my brother was alive, his water bed made his insurance premium alot higher.

I just finished college in Buffalo so I was using a vet there. For the last check up I brough my fish to Cornell because I was going there for an interview for graduate school. For emergincies the Fish Hospital of Long Island has a good reputation and where I am going to start and go. Brooklyn aquarium also got a new medical center but I am not sure if it is open to the public.

There are other places which claim they are equipped for fish. I will only go to specialised fish facilities. Next fall I begin veterinary school at Cornell so I might be able to help you out.

doesn't katter what type of fish you have. A pet is a pet and no one will judge you. I like and care for all my fish equally. From my 3ft shaek to my 3in blenny.

Gotta agree.. what fish/size limit will they begin to actually help with? Shark? Ray? Eel?

I mean,n ensure shrimps, corals?

And does it incluye flood insurance?? Accidental death via electrocution (including the person)???

Its medical insurance for the fish not property insurance. Death insurance costs extra. I am not paying for it. I am didn't get the insurance for money if they die I got it to prevent them feom dieing an early death. Ido get a free necropsy if they die.
