record setting prices for frags

Reef raft USA is not affiliated with Asia or Canada. It's just some guy trying to capitalize on the reef raft logo and not being in the USA. The only one that imports corals from legit reef raft is Benny z and Raymond guiterraz or two guys corals.

I don't believe that is correct. I just went back to one of their first posts on R2R and this is what they said

"We at Reef Raft USA, Reef Raft Canada, and Reef Raft Asia are proud to share our past,present and future RR collection to all Reef2Reef members"

I would assume if they were misrepresenting themselves that they would be stopped. I know Two guys is the main distributor but they do keep some for themselves to be sold through RR USA. Two Guys is the latest exclusive dealer there has been at leat 3 or 4 over the last few years.

That's what I heard from Tony himself, he was mad RR Asia was selling to two guys. Idk if It changed recently or something

Yea Benny Z is a coral broker I remember when they first came on to r2r with those ridiculous prices on those corals asking 6k for a chalice and he caught so much heat that they tried to play it off as if it was an April fools joke when it clearly wasn't and now they won't post up prices ever since that day

Scam artists. This is why you never see a real photo, with real unedited color. An extreme crop with a black background is not a good representation of the coral. Newbs don't know the difference though so what the hell, might as well rape them :/ That coral is butt ugly for $2000. It better come with a reach-around for that much!

There acouple of scam vendors on there no question about it I wont name names but you guys and gals know who they are. At the end of they day its everyones choice to buy or not to buy. Its whats beautiful about this country the freedom of choice. I heard one of the frags he sold is coming to NY

I agree the acro didn't even have it's polyps out. I have 5 or 6 different types of sps and they all have polyps.

I have seen one of the two pcs of tiny frags of Miami Hurricane(I think that's what they called them) sold in first day of MCNA fetching $1450, years back. So I guess 2K is nothing to some buyers. I have to really search hard in the tank to get a peek.

lol stuff like this always makes me laugh. people try to justify anything they feel guilty about. for some people money amount doesnt matter. for others it does, it still doesnt justify the pricing. ive been around for a decade and have seen most sides of the hobby. from import to retail to hobby. wonder how the people paying crazy money for a altered picture feel once it is in their tank. or if i was to post up a import pricing list for what the colony actually cost. most people cant be honest with themselves let alone to someone asking them thier honest opinion. 2K for a .5 frag from a colony that cost between $15-$45 plus say another $20 in partially shipping split with rest of stuff they got, now break that 3" colony into 10-30 frags and do the math. but hey if you got it and dont mind not care that your getting raped, so be it. btw a name doesnt mean crap tyree or who ever it is. you get a certificate with it ? ive had several piece's of coral that came from same person tyree got his from, but which sounds better a tyree frag or frag from so and so ( even though it is coming from origanal person he got his from )

Actually the scammers should get outed and here's why. I am almost positive everybody here has friends or loved ones that are not in the hobby but know you are, maybe even brought your tank up at a party or something, now let's say Christmas or whatever you celebrate rolls around and you find out your people spent $500 on an acan or macro algae!!!

Jae you sold a mushroom for 450 on R2R, whats the difference. The way I see it all corals are expensive and Reef Raft serves a niche market. It like a Bugatti dealer of corals.

Thats crazy $450 for a mushroom. You can just cut and force them to reproduce. Did the vendor ever sell it? I agree with you that it is a niche market and a search to find a sucker who doesn't realize mushroom should be more then $50.

If people have/want to drop the money on coral like that, more power to them. To them its worth it and to most it is not.

You can make this argument with just about anything. There are people out there that buy expensive scotch, expensive watches, expensive cars, expensive plants.

How others spend their money does not concern me, for it is not my money and they are entitled to spend it how they wish without criticism.

AFAIK...anything purchased from an individual (as opposed to a retail store) is sold as is/buyer beware, unless you have an agreed/written guarantee.
