How do you clean your glass?

Has anyone tried the flipper. I have been using it for about 3 months on my 240 and it works great. My only wish is that the magnet was a bit stronger. Other than that it has been awesome and the blade has stayed sharp with no rust.

+1 on the Kent Marine Pro Scrapper II. It comes with razor blades, a plastic blade and a felt pad for acrylic tanks. I bought the 24-36 inch model, so I almost never get my hands in the tank. It's on sale at DR. Fosters for $16.99.

i went to autozone and bought a sticker scraper which is basically a single edge razor blade holder that's about 12 inches long it works great its very similar to the old double edge scrapers that use to be green in color that are impossible to find

Inside - daily i use a Mag Float Medium for the majority of the glass and a Two Little Fishies nano cleaner magnet to get the tight spots and to avoid picking up gravel with the bigger magnet.

When the glass is getting really gunky, I use the Algae Free Piranha mag. It's WAY stronger than the TLF mag.

I too avoid putting my arm in the tank, whenever possible.

Outside, I have a spray bottle of RODI and newspaper.

I'll tell you..I'm really impressed with the flipper!not only for the low profile but it gets in spots I thought was impossible to get to and the scaper worked great at getting coraline off the glass without a problem..I recommend it!well worth the money

Kind of like the clean look..being that your the one that convinced me to make the back blue...love it!

I love the blue also but if I had to clean it I would drive myself nuts. My coralline grows so fast

I just got the Tunze magnet and it's great. The blade is strong yet plastic so you don't have to worry about messing up the silicone or rust. I also like that the design doesn't trap sand which can scratch the glass. I have the largest flipper, IMO it's a glorified mag float. The only thing all these lack which mag float has is that they don't float! So when they get detached you have to get some tongs or get your arms wet.

I had a bunch of stuff to return at Autozone so used part of the credit to buy one of these.


The metal is coated in auto grease, I assume to preserve the tool from a display presentation perspective.


If anyone is using this in their tank, how did you remove the grease and grease smell?


My thoughts are: boil it, bathe in whole milk, dish detergent and then boil and then rinse many times, just not sure at the moment.

A hot vinegar bath and a run in the dishwasher should do it. The metal is really coated in grease? Thats unreal....
