i mean i moved the rock formation a little bit around, but mostly its been that the gyre is moving the water around, prior to that i had 2 mp40 and wasnt really a problem with the pumps. But now its a problem. I dont know i feed the fish every day maybe u feed to much?

Interesting Ivan, I'm starting to get cyano after 5 weeks of use with the Gyre.

Maybe we should ask other members and see what they say because that is about the same time that it took for my diatoms to show up. I need yonder others input that have a gyre. If anyone out there has a gyre please let us know. Because if that's the case then they need to fix it somehow.

How is it the gyre fault that you guys are now getting cyano? In my opinion that's a good and bad thing. It's good cause your now getting more flow and it's hitting your dead spots so the garbage is getting pulled out. Bad thing is the cyano. We all hate cyano but it's not something that is not treatable.

I got detritus no cayano. And second of all just letting people know what they are getting into. This wasn't happeneing when I had the2 mp40 so obviously once I chnaged them this started happening so obviously the conclusion is that the gyre is doing something that's pulling he dirt up or something that's causing this. Mind you is is not only my tank also my fathers as I am keeping up his tank as well and he has and ELOS 160 and same is with his the detritus is just coming up.

In my case, I am not saying that the Gyre causes cyano but rather that the lack of flow on the opposite end of a 6 foot tank might be the cause.
Gyre flow movement is a very different animal in itself. You might get a good circling effect but it is very different from say 2 mp40's on either end.
I'm already experiencing tissue loss from SPS on the opposite end of the flow.

I don't have the GYRE YET,, but this is a video of "Gyre vs 2 MP40wes" the coral frenzy test is night and day the Gyre def is a little better.

Also, pecan2phat my tank is 7 ft long and I didn't get the Gyre yet because I'm worried they'll come out with a new model for bigger tanks,,that 50-800 gallons is too broad a spectrum for the xf 150....

Ivan,, are you suggesting that the gyre should be dipped before you (everybody) places one in their tank? Because if your not the gyre is apparently speeding up the effects of something that was going to happen in your tank regardless.

nop thats bnot what i am saying, what i am trying to say is that the gyre is pretty powerful and its bringing up crap from the sand causing the diatom. And how is it that it was going to happened regardless in my tank. the tank is almost 3 years old?
