Since ive been very busy with a new job, i havent quite kept up with my tank maintance. Been having a color loss in my sps, moving towards light brown.
partly maintance and partly the redbugs i found , i know is the cause of the problem.
I think im building up phosphates(no test kit, i always assume my system has them), having some diatoms bloom but nothing bad at all no algae. i also have a fuge w cheato and some other macro. i usually always run in my overflow box a bag of mixed seachem carbon and po4 remover. but that also hasnt been changed as often (week ) as i would want and is likely a cause.

i think i need to get a phosban reactor or similar, what are the best reactors on best media.?
any other good methods to slowly lower po4 besides a huge water change..i just need to keep them in check

I'd get a test kit before you change anything. How do you know if your change makes a difference without testing?
eric
i always assume that all systems can eventually produce phosphates and an efforts to remove and prevent them should always be taken.

i also need a better method then what i am using anyway.

no harm in removing too much po4

i know the red bugs are mostly the cause and my general upkeep

Get a phosban reactor. Seems Phosban is good to lower PO4 quickly, then use Rowa for long term maintenance. Don't know about PURA. Seems many like it though.
Browning SPS would be a good indicator of high PO4 but either way, you should have quality nutrient test kits if you are going to keep SPS. You only need Nitrate and PO4. Salifert will do for ca, mg and alk.

Mike,
I use to use phasband and rowa before...Rowa is more expensive vs. phosband. If i would u,i would get phosband reactor and use any iro-based po4 removal,,I belive they all the same.. Start with small amount,Gfo will revome po4 very fast and this will impact ur corals and stress them. Wich will lead to Tn at the base.. I had this problem before i start using zeo.. Be carefull and start slow...

I just got the rowa DD/merck po4 kit.
I'll be curious to see how it stacks up to a hanna meter.
I was going to get a meter, but chris has one, and mike, and rich.
so I went the cheap way :)
