Im wondering what to do with this stuff,,,Im thinking the "carbon" ness of it is spent so is it ok to leave in the sump as rubble or no? The reason is Im wondering if it is essentially Live rock now???

Throw it out. The reason you use carbon is to take very small particles out of the water. If you leave it in the tank, as the carbon breaks down it will release everything it absorbed.

yeah but the pores get filled up pretty quick, and it's not deep/big enough to offer much in way of nitrate or phosphate removal so? Get a marinpure block, and toss the used carbon in the garden.

is it bad that i never thought of putting it in the garden. makes total sense now that i think of it. Do you guys put GFO in gardens too.... that also seems like it would be a great source of minerals for plants.

Garden? I might try that, I have been using my skim mate to keep the animals away and it's been working

gfo in the garden? IDK. A lil bit here and there would think is good. Long term in a small space probably not. With carbon it's noticeable the added growth and green where you put it.

Def a great fertilizer but yeah, lol, that could keep your friends away too, unless you cover it with some soil

HAHA! I think we talked about this a few months ago,, I was having trouble with some groundhogs and the skim mate idea came up. I poured it directly into the holes i knew they liked to hang out and they haven't been back since!
My wife just barely tolerates my "fish sh**" and she didn't smell anything!
