thanks for the good luck ed. well i stopped looking at my reciept's about 3 weeks into construction. i think i spent enough, the tank came out the way i wanted it too, it came together from years of setting up tanks, for myself .in 1986 i bought a 55 gallon tank ,allglass then a hamilton hood 4'model with 2 175 watt mh and vho's ,i think i payed about 500.00 for it then a hang on the back wet dry filter, with bio balls and purchased about 30 lbs of rock, it wasen't called live rock back then, just rock :D and then came the hair algae and i thought that was great, watching it wave in the current. about six month's later i bought a 150 gallon tank, and went with fish only system, bleached coral for deco, and a lifegaurd 4 stage canister filter system , then came a protien skimmer wich i found a small add in the back of fama magazine so i ordered one, cant stop there so i tried ozone and had to have the air dryer to go with it. my point is im still learning everyday in this hobby about what works and what doesen't for me and the system you see came about from trial and error, but was a lot of fun to put together. i give it 6 months and i'll want a bigger tank. :D :D . happy reefing.

Earlier you mentioned that Pacific Coast Importers would be realeasing a model with a more sensitive temp controller. Can you upgrade the controller or if you buy now are you stuck with the +- 4 degree difference, and does that mean you have a temp swing of 4 degrees in your tank? Sorry for the questions but I want to order one this week and was hoping for more info. How and where do you find Steve, I would love to ask him a few questions. Thanks

jime, steve said that the new models with a +or-2 diff should be available in 2 months or so, or you could get one now and he will ship you one for free / the new version controller when he gets them in. i have mine hooked up to a seperate controller in wich i set the chiller at 75 f , turn of point and the seperate controller i set for a 2degree diff, works fine. i wouldent set the any closer then 2 degree because the chiller would run a lot more then 25 to 35 % duty time. when you contact him ask him about the availability of the fuse's that come with the chiller, the chiller has a fuse socket built into the system wich protect's the temp controller from surges and overload's, and let me tell you it works . i cant find the fuse's anywere so i removed the fuse compartment and installed a new fuse houseing with the same style fuse 10 amps 250 volts rating, glass fuse wich now i can get them anywere, like radio shack wich made life alot eaiser for me, all in all the chiller works great. steve's # is 503 982 6700. the chiller will controll the the temperature of the aquarium within 2 degree celsius/ 4 degrees fahrenheit . the unit has a working delay of 3 minutes before the unit will begin operation.

Well once again, good luck with that! I just started a 55gal FOWLR and finally after 2 months, I just (on the 22nd of July) put in a pair of Australian Clowns (I think there called cinnamon clowns too) and a pretty big Clarkii Clown. I only have 2 50-50 atinic bulbs, so I am limited to what I can do. People tell me this hobby is like drugs, it's just more addicting!! And I think they're right. I already wanna upgrade to like a swimming pool size tank. At my LFS they have a shark tub in the back with some 2-3 foot sharks in them. I'm not too sure what kind they are, the owner told me once but I forgot. I want to get one of those bad boys. They had a sting ray there too separated from the sharks, and since that I just wanna so all out!! I would go bigger in a heart beat, but we are selling our house, so I don't wanna get rolling on something A LOT BIGGER and have to shut it down right away. Well any who, congrats on your progress and keep up the pics and posting. (And the Excellant work!)
And if you really do upgrade in about 6 months, I take that tank off your hands...

Just spoke with Steve and he told me that the upgraded controller would cost at least $40. I guess I could use my Medusa controller to aviod the 4 degree swing. Sounds like a huge temp swing to me. I forgot to ask about the fuses but might call him back. Did yuo replace the fuse because it blew? I would hate to be on vacation and have that thing shut down on me.

something new, yes there is. considering that i am dosing over 120 ml per day in ca i had to upgrade to a 20lb co2 tank from my old 5lb tank wich would run out to soon. reactor efluent coming out at a steady stream and bubble count is currently 120 + per minute to keep up with the ca /alk demand.

Wow!

How does the noise level compare between the Sequence and the Dolphin. I'm in need of a high volume pump like the ampmaster, but noise is a serious concern for me. Is the Sequence as quiet as the Dolphin Ampmaster 3000?

thanks,
-todd

hey todd,i have never owned a ampmaster 3000 but i do have and no longer use the ampmaster 4700 and it was a quiet pump but the seal kept on leaking so i retired it

the sequence pump i am currently useing is very quiet, but honestly the ampmaster was a little more quiet. dont get me wrong for the size of the pump i would compare it to a mak4 in db .

jb, awsome web page you have there. very impresed with the way you keep a log down to the smallest detail. happy reefing all.
