This kind of ticks me off...I was originally going to use these as external pumps, but I decided to go with a larger sump, requiring me to throw them in water. Supposedly they are safe either way. The only problem is that, at least on the 6000 model, there's a huge stainless steel screw on the housing! It's not really a big deal to just remove it; it's not critical. However, it kind of rubs me the wrong way to think that if I didn't notice, or didn't know any better, I'd have two rusty screws in my sump releasing metals into my water.
