This kind of ticks me off...I was originally going to use these as external pumps, but I decided to go with a larger sump, requiring me to throw them in water. Supposedly they are safe either way. The only problem is that, at least on the 6000 model, there's a huge stainless steel screw on the housing! It's not really a big deal to just remove it; it's not critical. However, it kind of rubs me the wrong way to think that if I didn't notice, or didn't know any better, I'd have two rusty screws in my sump releasing metals into my water.

There is a small difference between saltwater and seawater. The people at QO was thinking about saltwater of around 1ppm NaCl, you know. ;)

is that a ultra bad thing to have rust sittin in the watter? i have a single stainless steel host clamp keeping my return hose on the pump........should i take it off?

obviously the answer is yes, but what should i use to hould the hose on

of course! i dont have a clamp in my sump but my flex tube that goes from my pump to the skimmer sometimes come loose, sometimes we dont thing of the most obvious solutiong thank you!
