So, yesterday I was working on the 180 frag tank and I noticed that all the snails were perched up on the highest points of the corals and rock "reared up" on the back most part of their foot. I had never seen snails do this before and they were all facing into the flow. They are an orange atlantic species. I've never gotten a positive ID on them and I only saw them become available about a year ago. Thinking I was facing a snail revolt due to some injustice they felt I had inflicted upon them I was intrigued lol. All at once, they started spawning in the tank, including some zebra turbos who didn't rear up but did perch up high along with the oranges. I forget how long it went on for but it had to have been an hour at minimum. The tank was clouded and the corals were loving life. Wish I had been there at the beginning to take some pics before it got clouded up :grumpy:. It was disturbing and cool at the same time.

Wish I knew what triggered the mass spawning. We were all gathered around staring at it and equally disgusted. If anyone knows what kind of snail the orange ones are I'll try and get a pic up soon. Was wondering if there was a possibility for a cross breed emerging from this (between the oranges and the turbos). The oranges are great algae eaters and the turbos get much bigger so if they did manage to cross breed the result could be the worlds greatest algae eater or if you go the other way with it, a carnivorous snail only satisfied by human flesh. Only time will tell.
