For my fixture, the programming part actually is easy because I already designed an industry standard interface for the strip. You basically can do anything with it IF you use a computer with an USB port and an interface from me. You can control when to turn which bulb on at what time at what intensity. You have a lot of control over the gradual change of the whole fixture. To make it standalone is the harder part due to qty I can afford to order. Storing the program in a small controller with TOO MANY settings is not cost effective when I am not manufacturing in qty. I am still searching for the right PIC/EEPROM/... combination. Timers are built-in in most of the PICs and of course your computer.

You will not be my first customer!!! I already have couple customers. DUHHH

BTW, are you one of the guy(or do I mistaken you as someone else) who come to TDC or Alladdin(Eli)'s party? If so, your friends in the party will probably have the programming kits for my light.

Wing can u tell me more on the adjustment of the color of the parted bulbs.??

Don't quite get what you mean but anyway it's kind of like this.
Currently, the prototype I am working with is arranged like this:
White(ch1) White(ch2) Blue(ch3)....White(ch1) White (ch2) Blue(ch3)....repeat 6 times

The program is break down into chases and scenes(stage lighting terms)
A scene can go like this: all ch1 on, all ch2 on, all ch3 on .....
A scene can also go like this: ch1 on, ch2 on, ch3 off
A scene can also go like this: ch1 intensity A, ch2 intensity B, ch3 intensity C
.
.
.

Then all scenes can be linked together to form chase,
each chase is linked with timer and thus you can program your own way of dawn, dusk, morning, noon, afternoon, evening, night......
Then if you so choose, define your own windy day yourself by changing different scenes and then make a chase, call it Wingo Windy Days. Hit the run and that's all. Hope you understand my Wingnutz way of explaining things.

The aqua illumination uses rs-232 interface What is up with these people... can someone tell them that there is practically no one Pc manufacturer using that anymore and that the usb to serial converters are shady... Wingo great thought with the USB.

To cut the cost down for the on-board controller, manufacturers tend to use the older PICs which mostly have some build-in RS232 functions even though PCs have almost phased out the interface.

So now, can I raise my price. J/K J/K

if I bought the 60" aqua it would cost 3,075 and last for an estimated 10 years.

in 120 months I would go through 13 bulb changes with 3 bulbs at a time, if the bulbs are 80 each thats 3,120 in bulb cost right there.

I'm not going to try to calculate the electric savings, but with the bulb cost neutralizing the initial cost of the system then the electric savings would be the icing on the cake :eat:

that is of course if the led bulbs last ten years, and the leds work to grow coral.
