I took the first step to lowering my energy consumption.

I ordered my first tunze. A 6060.
I know it's not fancy, but it's what I can afford at the moment, plus it uses just
11 watts, at least that what the specs say. it pushes out 1500gph so I will use it to
replace one side of the CL, saving about 130watts :) I will add another 6000 that steve will lend me that will take care of the other side, and then I will move the blueline 40x to the return line. Now the future plans include saving for some controllable tunzes and a red dragon. as well as finding the most efficient chiller.
so the up front cost will be about $1500 to lower my energy bill and increase the flow in my tank.

so I was at a trade show this weekend and saw the dart Pumps by sequence. They had it hooked up to a voltage meter. It was doing 3500 gph and only using 110 watts.

Some more info on the dart

Max flo-3600 gph
Max head- 12ft.
insanely quiet
1 1/2" in
1 1/2" out

when I was there they reduced the intake and that lowered the watt usage down to about 80 and there was still a good water flow

my 450 is a definite go! I'm in the market for a quiet (tank is in my family room in basememnt) efficent pump. I have an iwaki now and it's a pig.
I plan on setting up 4 tunze pumps within the tank w/ controller
and I figiure turning over 3500-4500 gph.
there will be approx a 4' head to the returns.

this is a great thread and great timming too!
impatiently waiting for more input
