even with skimmer run tanks the water can get yellow, carbon helps, but ozone gets the water crystal clear.

yes this is true:) but a skimmer does make enough of an impact to bleach all your corals....been there, done that ;) :D

Jon, I did siphon out the junk last night (as much as i could get to).
Rich is right, my tank has not been skimmed since it was set up, plus my lights are very strong.
Tom, my system has about 200gal of water.

Tunze manual indicates that Ozone can be used with this skimmer, but also warns that it can also shorten the lifespan of many parts.

I got the skimmer today. It took less than 30 min from when i opened the box till it was running in my sump (most of that time was to read the instructions first).
It looks like it is still breaking in first...

i already got about 100mL of very wet skimmate, i am still playing around with dialing it as i want to let it break in fully, and also i dont want to skim too much too fast and shock my tank, so i prefer to take it slow and give everything time to adjust. also keep in mind that my tank is very lightly stocked (as i was running skimmerless) and very lightly fed. i've also been using many means of nutrient export, so there may not even be that much to skim.
it is very easy to adjust the skimmer, just tighten or loosen the air screw (by hand) and it will either foam up wetter or drier as a result.
I can not hear the skimmer whatsoever as it is inside my cabinet.

IF its a good skimmer you will be shocked what it pulls out!
I have a lightly stocked 25G and My remora will hardly pull anything out.
I was thinking the same way its lightly stocked and lightly fed, food is rinsed with RO water. Then i switched to ER and this is what it pulls out in 2-3 days more then the remora in two weeks.

wow! uch! makes you really glad knowing all that is out of the tank, it really is amazing if you think about it that all that was just dissolved in the tank.
