Justin,
You've gotten some very good advice from Jimmy, and a few others. All of the advice is spot on. These reefers are more experienced than you and quite frankly we all like to see tank propagated, maricultured, and responsible breeding being conducted in the hobby. None of us want to see the natural side of our hobby wiped out. However, the key to all of this is responsible. Unfortunately, as good as your intentions are, you're jumping the gun, by a longshot.

Just the fact that you're considering this 'procedure' is proof positive that you are not ready to do it. This is a chancy surgery when the anemone is healthy and stress free. Your carpet is clearly not up to the requirements stated in your own linked source. Please hold off and give yourself time to enjoy the carpet, the hobby, and honestly, just gain more experience. You'll be happy you waited and will hopefully be rewarded with two beautiful carpets.

Wes,

The anemone is not bleached. That is just the natural color of it.

Justin
Justin,

The anemone is bleached. That is not the natural color. It will regain its green color eventually if you take good care of it. This does not mean its ok to chop it up in several pieces.

Good luck,

Wes

Justin,

I would like to give you some friendly advice and I mean no harm in what I am saying.

I like your tank alot, but You need to dose 2 part alk and cla. Also dose mag. Once you have the right leves and the tank is doing great then think about fragging the coral. Also little by little take out the bio balls from the sump and put in filter pads that you can wash and just put back in the filter. Also make sure you are running gfo ( phosband) in a reactor. I can look for one if you want me to.

if you do frag the anemone make sure you have a good place for it to recover it reraleases toxins and could kill off whatever is in your main tank.i wouild leave it in the hospital tank for a minimum of 72 hours with good lighting.if you are a new reefer i would suggest you not even attempt to split it.
