hippo

Can't say that I have, but with marine critters, who knows!

Why do you ask, are you having an issue with a fish?
yes. my hippo tang got like very light white spots on his body, not the ich kind and a few black ones by his mouth and near the eye. so i took the hippo to a local aquarium shop and he told me that it is sea spiders and i haveto start my tank from scratch.

Can you post a pic of the fish?

What are you feeding the fish?

Tangs are onvivores and have special dietary needs.
Brine shrimp are not really nutritional. Tangs need to have algae in their diet and should always have some available on a veggie clip. Strips of Nori are a good addition for him. Frozen mysis shrimp soaked in Selcon would also probably be appreciated (ask if you don't know how to do that).
If you are going to vary his diet also using flakes, do get the ones made especially for omnivores as they will contain the vitamins and minerals that this fish requires.

Do you have any other fish in the tank?

We'll be happy to see a bad pic too, still better than none :)

Never heard of "spiders" in the sand bed that attack fish. What size is your tank? Kathy has a good and often overlooked point when it comes to feeding fish. Proper diet can prevent MANY of the problems that arise with fish in our aquariums.
