Which Salt Is Best For My Buck?

Instant Ocean and Reef Crystals are both quality salt mixes.

If you have a reef tank, use the Reef Crystals.

If you're concerned about phosphates, for example, test your newly mixed water before adding it to your tank.

And like most salt mixes, you should let either mix in a container for at least 24 hours prior to adding it to your display tank. If you have the luxury, let it mix even longer.

Best bag for the buck would be Coralife salt. Great Cal, Alk, and MG levels and selling for $35 per bucket locally.

The large Usps flatrate boxes will ship up to 70lbs. A box of esv might fit and it's really cheap from
Jim and Russ right now.

No salt debate Dubs. I'm living in Vegas now, and all the LFS' suck. I'm starting a 120 mixed reef, and needed advice on salt mixes, since shipping is pretty high for heavy salt buckets.

Hey Russ;
Looks like it's Reef Crystals, cause I can get it at the Petco 10 minutes from my place. I know no one with a tank out here, much less, people that want to split a pallet of salt. Since I'm starting a new tank, I don't have to worry about changing salt on an established tank.

Not good. Thanks for asking. However, I don't lift ANY of these heavy items. The sad part is that I have to ask my wife and daughter to help me with these items.

FYI for the guys not local to saltwatercritters....Foster and Smith offers $8.99 flat rate shipping regardless of weight.

Well dont feel so bad I think it comes from NJ and there are no deals around here either.. found it on line the cheapest but then I dont remember if the shipping was $20 more and then that make it nuts... Reef crystals box makes 200gal $50 with free shipping if you order $99. worth so I just order 2 boxes cause I know Ill need it!!!

Just a heads up on reef crystals; read this thread from reef central Its what made me switch over to ESV. I will never use IO/Reef crystals again from my experince.

Any good LFSs in the area? If they don't carry ESV why don't you talk them into it? I bet you could set up a pallet of ESV ground shipped from NY at a price low enough to get yourself a free "bucket" for your trouble.
