Ok well got home tonight from Jims place (by the way thanks again Jim) and well what do ya know...tank is slowly getting cloudy again.....and dammed if i know what the hell is going on now.....

Water parameters are fine with the exception that the PH is off by alot right now...would this cause cloudiness? I mean it almost looks like the green is trying to come back....

Hey Chris. Another New Rocheller? I think we need our on club. There are at least 4 or 5 of us on MR. Where do you live? I'm on Wellington.

As to your tank, what do you mean you PH is off by a lot? That's a big big problem. What's your PH at? And yes, I do believe it will contribute to cloudiness.

Chris I hope it doesn't come back, but like I said the only way I was able to stop this in a friends tank was a 100% WC. It seems that the little green color that is left will reproduce into the dark green that you had before.

This tank is basically set up now as if i just got it, new sand 100% new water everything.....

Anyway house you think the local pet stores may have it (pet goods, petco etc..or do i have to take a ride to FTUSA)

I hate to say this but with the lights off now and a floor light on in my room the tank water looks green from the side and very cloudy .....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...........

Ok well i am goin nuts on this tank now trying to figure this out...i just removed some weird looking rocks from the sump and took out the carbon pads i had in the to help clear the water inititally...only thing left is poly pad still good...

Now i am questioning the brass check valve on the return to the tank...could that be doing it? or possibilty maybe something is caught in the overflow plumping into the sump?

I still say your rock is cycling again... Sponge probably died off and spiked your ammonia.

I would have to agree. If you changed the water and sand, only thing left is the rocks. Now that i think about it, my friends green tank had really raw stinky rocks to begin with........

The best thing you can do right now is to move the live animals to a temporary holding tank, get the skimmer running on the system AND... Add either lugols or clorox ONE DROP at a time in the skimmer intake until it starts to foam up. BE VERY CAREFUL, but you need to "jump start" the skimming with so much crap in the water.

Turn off the lights, add a couple of powerheads and give it a week or two. If you need to borrow some powerheads I am sure I can dig a few up. (I live in upper Manhattan by the GW Bridge)
