I would say the chiller. locking my temp down all summer was so nice. This is the first time I have used 1. I dont think ill ever run a tank without a chiller again.

Also the mp10 to replace two korilla 4's. It really is hard to imagine how good this product really is.

This is easy. My tank was set up with a regular UG filter in 1971 like everyone elses tank. It was horrible. A couple of years later I changed it to a slow running reverse UG filter. It has worked like that for the last 35 years or so with almost no maintenance.
The most resent change was adding an algae trough above the water. Water flows from the skimmer along a 5' 4" wide 1/2" deep trough that has a screen on the bottom to grow algae. Never had an algae problem after that but I did have many in the years prior.

Those are all sound ideas.
Anthony, can you pm me about the sunpower. I'm really leaning toward switching.

Paul, I like your trough idea. Do you have any pictures?

The trough uses no power at all, it sits above the tank to the rear and uses "waste" light that would only go to light the back galss. It is few from the skimmer with water that was going back to the tank anyway.

the one "single" thing for me came in a round and about way. jarrett shark introduced me to mr. not only have i learned about reefing from the site, i've gotten to meet a lot of people who are as obsessed as i. these are the people who had helped and shared their experiences and ideas. i would say mr. was the one "single" thing that had helped me enjoyed my reef much more than before.

A simplified description.
2 separate little systems.2 pumps,2 timers
System 1-pump one does double duty.Mixes up a months worth of SW.Turn a valve now same pump will transfer a set amount to sump controlled by a simple digital timer.
System 2-pump two(aqualifter)sits by sump and SLOWLY sucks out set amount and is discharged to house drain.I timed how long this takes and set timer two accordingly.
I have the suction tube set a normal sump level,so it will suck air at this point and level will not go down past that point.
Thats pretty much it.Has worked flawlessly for several years.
I also built in to it an overfill cut off,and an indicator SW reservoir empty
No pics,nothing really to see.

The single greatest change I made was adding water to my tank. For the longest time the tank just sat there, with rocks, sand, plumbing. Don't get me wrong, it was nice, but I always thought it was lacking something. The one day it dawned on me - Water! So I poured some in and MAN what a difference!

DHaut, :lol2: Reefnut- I like it. Sounds like a pretty simple system. There would have to be multiple failsafes in order for me to use it though. Set up incorrectly I could really see this causing a problem

This thread is a TOTAL failure. People have hard time comprehending SINGLE in "Single best change to your tank....".

For me it was upgrading my Coralife Fixture to Current Nova Extreme Pro 12 x 39W HO T5s

It sounds more like a DIY type of thing...
