Woops, I stand corrected. Not all fish odered from Vivid are fully acclimated. Thanks Albano

Why are orders not shipped immediately?

We take the time necessary to be sure that all livestock are fully acclimated, healthy, and eating well in our holding facility before shipping. We get a lot of orders but will only ship a maximum amount of live order boxes a day to ensure quality. Additionally, we will only ship livestock that meet our high-quality criteria. See our 15-Day Guarantee.

Most in-stock livestock orders are shipped within 3 business days of the order date.
Other livestock orders including pre-ordered livestock are shipped within 14 days of the order date.
Most live rock/sand orders are shipped within 3 business days of the order date.
Most drygood & aquarium supply orders are shipped within 3 business days of the order date.

Yeah, I know. Both times I ordered from them, I called the order in and they told me the fish I was looking to purchase were fully acclimated at their facility. But according to Albano, he says it's no true for all the fish available on their site.

Live Aquaria-Divers Den. The good thing about the Drivers Den is that they do QT the fish and they wouldn't release them unless they're in excellent condition. I've had them hold on to fish for an extra 2 weeks just because the fish had a rip tail fin. You do pay more for Divers Den fish but it's worth it in that sense that you know what you're getting.

Hmmmm I wonder which fish are NOT acclimated. Maybe Albano can chime in and let us know.......
Vivid is a GREAT store, been there many times...a MUST visit if you go to Los Angeles. They have an unbelievable 14' reef tank, and more frags of more corals than you can imagine. HOWEVER, like a lot of other stores (ie Reef Hot Spot, maybe Blue Zoo, both good places), if you order something that is not in stock (may actually show 'in stock' online) they go EVERYDAY to the wholesalers/importers less than 1 hr. away at LAX, and get what you need.
Many people do not realize that Live Aquaria (NOT Divers Den) and many other online stores (not located in Calif), ship directly from Calif. importers. If you've ever been to any wholesalers/importers you'll know that the amount of 'conditioning' is usually limited to those fish that actually appear stressed/sick...but if the buyer wants it...$ talks!
I'm not saying that this is bad...it's the way things are...they are selling a perishable commodity...they want it gone! I have received many shipments from Calif/Hawaii/Florida directly to West. Cty. Airport... but I have a separate 200g+ Qt system...if I have a problem, they replace it.
Since they guarantee the shipments, it IS in their best interest to ship a healthy 'looking' fish...but don't believe, for a second, that they actually take the time to watch every single fish, to make sure it's 'eating like a pig'!
Even if the fish was Qt'd before shipping, the shipping itself can cause problems...it is your responsibility to watch the fish, before adding it to your system.
Sorry, that my 2 cents turned into 3!
