It would be great it was made clear made it clear how events such as the Queens "meet & greet" should be organized on MR. I've seen posts where persons from at least one other region are trying to arrange such an event, and who knows - maybe I'll decide to host a Brooklyn hurrah.

You are free to organize events. MR was started in the backroom of bars and restaurants.
While we do not have a formal set of rules at the moment (an effort was made to create them but there were too many holes that were circumvented too easily), we are working on something concrete.
To be clear, what you cannot do is this:
Charge members admission or membership fees for your events
Deal exclusively with one vendor and not make efforts to bring in alternatives
Have multiple threads with selling activities
An auction where the destination for the funds raised is not publicly identified
Be accommodating in your scheduling in regards to other MR events (i.e. swaps)
You'd be surprised how much we actually support events that follow these basic rules. If the event is organized and meets these basic requirements, MR will typically help make the event a success by paying for food and refreshments, providing free items, samples, and livestock donated by several national vendors.
