I let my tank go almost completely for a few months and the damage was really bad. I finally got it back on the right track, the corals are growing again, the fish are healthy, and Im scraping new coraline off the glass almost every day. But to my point, with all the constant up keep I forget sometimes to just sit back and enjoy watching the tank. Over this past weekend ive made it a point to just enjoy the tank for a half hour a day. My fiance thinks its crazy that i just sit and stare at it, but if i dont do that whats the point in having it? Im gonna try and continue this practice, I find it really relaxing and it motivates me to keep checking parameters twice a day, and buying salt and hauling r/o water, and all the other stuff that goes into this.

How much time do you guys spend just sitting back and watching your tanks?

Right now it is still in the as I call it let's get everything balanced and perfect phase.

I have a couch directly across from my tank so I can sit and stare. Normally I get home from work and before anything will come down and sit for 30 minutes - hour and stare at it. Sometimes I've been known to fall asleep as well.

Thats really cool that all you guys dont forget to enjoy the fruits of your labor!

"1 hour a day... Ok maybe 2... Fine 3!
Sometimes up to 4 hours a day to be honest. Some days I will just stare and fix every tiny thing in the tank"

+1 I do that with my bulbs, I have something like 15 extra bulbs and an 8 bulb set up, and Ive probably tried every possible combination of every different color bulb out there lol. Ill get it to where i think ill be happy with it, watch for ten minutes then swap out a bulb or move its position in the line up. By the time Im done Im so color blind from staring at bulbs that everything just looks blue.

Mine is located in front of my bed, i fear that if it wasn't here or near my kitchen i wouldn't actually have much time to view it. This way i wake up and have a chance to look at it and also when i go to bed - at least an hour each time. Can also ruin your day if something is missing or looks bad lol.

Mine is in my living room and I find myself looking at the tank almost continuously. My son is not that interested in the tank but my wife and daughter also watch it all the time. In fact, when my daughter gets home from work the first thing she does is to check that everyone in the tank is OK.

I used to keep my tanks in my basement. I really didnt get down there much to enjoy them, my family was always upstairs. I now built a play room (you know for the kids :wink1:) and tank is now there. I check my tank first thing every morning and if I am home, you usually can find me in front of it.

I usually watch the tank for at least an hour a day, its currently in our dining room but once the new one gets here it will be in the living room.

I pretty much have a routine, after dinner I drink my coffee while watching the tank. Very relaxing :)
