hi guys i need ur advice ive been using filter socks for the past month and i think its great. it makes my water clear and no bubbles. now i know once it gets clogged it over flows and it happen to me 2times luckly i have to sock in the sump. my problem is yesterday i had a clean sock and i installed it cuz the one in the sump overflow, any way today this mornin i check amd its overflowing again! wtf man this is getting crazy. when i check the same dame thing. i remove the sock and there arent any particles inside.???? the sock gets like a ballon then water overflows. y is this happenin? in one day? im only dosing bionc and special blend once a week. i dont what else to do. when i wash i wash with hot water thats all. i left it just like that cuz i had to take ny kid to school and go to work. i even cut some of my pvc flex tubbing thinking maybe its too long. so i have it at a good length. pls tell me whatthe hell to do. i still want to use the sock and dont mind to wash every 3 to7days but not every day! also it wasnt doin this at first. i have a euro reef rs 100 and a phosban reactor with media

oh i forgot to add also it feels alittle slimmy like green out side of the sock and its green inside but no particels.

do what i did go sock less and clean the crud every month or so it pita but to me is less work than cleaning the socks all the time .. this is what work for me i am sure other members have other ways

Try a 200m sock. Also wash the sock in the washer machine. Low water level hot water and a half cap of bleach. Them do another rinse cycle if you want. Been doing that for years. But try that wash b4 switching to 200m sock.

stop using sock for the same reason now i have sponge on the front of my return works great and i only clean during water change once a week.

Bacterial bloom can clog your socks in one day, are you experiencing a bacterial bloom from over use of the special blend?

not really tank looks fine ,nothing is green. what i have noticed is i get a light film on the glass but it doesnt look green its looks like cloudy, is it that. i scraped it.off.with my scraper.

+1. Also try to rig a bigger size sock to the drain in your sump , I ended up using a 7x16 filter sock bag and swap it out with a washed on once a week.

Jada remove the socks and add 1 koralia or 2 to the sump the Koralia will prevent from detrius collecting at the sump.

I have the 100 micron 7x16 mesh bad, not felt (felt is that thicker cloth material). Get about three of them, then wash as this guy stated on the previous post. Like that you can rotate to a washed one every week. I had the same issue you're experiencing and solved in this manner, it should also work for you.
