    After I clean my skimmer's collection cup I put in 10-12 'beads' (for lack of the proper term) of Calcium Chloride. Doing this buffers the skimmate in the cup so it won't smell as badly. I read this in an article in Coral magazine awhile back and it actually works.

    You might want to check and see if that Asterina star is using that coral like a drive in restaurant. Maybe it's a Coeloseris sp., but that's just a guess.
