  1. Show me your micro-reefs

    - There has got to be more micro or nano reefs out there! Thanks,
  2. Where to get Sea Grass

For any of you who keep sea-grasses what are the lighting and sand bed requirements for these? Thanks,
  3. Show me your micro-reefs

I'm definately interested in what lighting you have as well .... Also, somewhat unrelated to the micro-reef theme but I was wondering what was a good online place to order captive propagated frags (particularly soft corals since I probably won't be putting many if any SPS frags in this tank)...
  4. Show me your micro-reefs

I am going to be setting up a small (5-10 gallon) reef these next few months after a year long reef-hiatus( I kept a 29gallon reef successfully for about 4 years). I was wondering if anyone wanted to show off (pictures?) or tell me about their smal reefs of this size to give me some ideas about...
  5. goose barnacles

Hey Chris, The first thing that comes to my mind when keeping barnacles in a closed system environment is their feeding habits. Providing the plankton or plankton substitute they would need to thrive as filter feeders would provide a challenge. [ October 11, 2001: Message edited by: BananaSlug ]
  6. Small clownfish and anemone setup

Yeah,I know that both clownfish and their host anemones grow too large for such a small system but I figured if I got small specimens and moved them when they grew it would work. But on second thought I think I might scrap the idea and go with some corals instead. Thanks for the replys,
  7. Small clownfish and anemone setup

I am in the very early planning stages of setting up a little reef system here at school. I am thinking of setting up a little clownfish and anemone system in an AGA seven gallon bowfront aquarium. Has anyone had any experience with such a small clownfish/anemone system? I have had experience...
  8. College Dream reef help

Yeah, you may want to check into allowed tank size. Here at Santa Cruz it is 10 gallons or smaller if you are living on campus.
  9. College Dream reef help

Hey Kipreefer, I just this last summer had to give away my 30 gallon reef to come here to UC Santa Cruz. I was thinking of doing the same thing you are, get a nano-reef and keep a few of my corals and fish, but decided to go reef-less for a little while so I didn't have to worry about the...
  10. Survey...... best fish for a small reef

I had a 29 gallon reef with soft corals, corallimorphs and some LPS. The fish inhabitants consisted of a gold-stripe clown, blue fiji damsel and a six-line wrasse. All were great ingabitants for such a small reef especially the wrasse and the clown. The damsel was great too, but of course any...
  11. Jellyfish

Styk33- I too have seen these little setups in LFS shops. I would be extremely wary of purchasing such a setup for sea-jellies (the PC term for the biologcally incorrect name "jellyfish"). Sea-Jellies tyically should not be kept in home aquaria save "upsidedown Jellyfish" which are sedentary...
