  1. Best 400W MH Bulb for Coral Color and Growth?

The coralvue 20k bulbs put off more par than a lot of 400 watt 10k bulbs. That is acording to sanjay's reef lighting research. I use the 20k bulb and really like it. I don't think it looks as blue as some other 20k bulbs, but I like that. I seem to get good growth out of it, but I haven't used a...
  2. Lumenarc III Mini's on my refugiums

Also your setup looks really nice. :D I also like that skimmer. That's the one with the red dragon pump, right?
  3. Lumenarc III Mini's on my refugiums

I'm actually looking to replace my current reflectors with lumenarcs. Is there an advantage to the original over the A3? I assume that you can just light a larger area? I've currently got 3 400 watt halides over my tank. I'm thinking I would like to remove the one in the middle and just use the...
  4. 20 gal long...keep it simple or

IMO, you can't go wrong with a sump/fuge. You get more water volume and the additional filtration of the fuge.
  5. Euroreef cup drain - how to?

You should be able to just screw it in. Drill a half inch hole and use a 1/2" threaded fitting and some teflon tape. That should do it.
  6. i know not more lighting!

Are you maybe talking about using 440 watts VHO. Which would be four, 4 ft bulbs, or are you talking about 8 55 watt power compacts? If you decide against the Metal halides I would recommend the VHO. Good luck.
  7. 14000k bulbs

What bad things have you heard about coralvue? I like the coralvue 20K it's not as blue as some other 20k's. The 14k's I've seen have a slight blue tint to them. Good luck.

  9. What do you think of Oceans Motion?

I just purchased an acrylic 150. Just drilled eleven holes in it for the overflow, return, as well as an 8-way. Now I'm curious about laminar flow. I for some reason or another was under the impression that varying flow was a good thing. Could someone enlighten me with their experience and...
  10. How much lighting?

I vote for the 250's. They are generally only $10 or $15 more and you can keep a lot more.
  11. barebottom tanks...opinions

If I were to go to Home Depot and ask for starboard would they know what I'm talking about? Is there another name for it? I am considering an acrylic tank with a bare bottom, but don't want to scratch the heck out of it. I assume the starboard is what I need? Thanks.

  13. SPS supplier

Well, it's hard to say why some things work better in some areas and not another. I think part of it is that we have a reputation of having some of the healthiest organisms, as well as a knowledgeable, and honest staff. There are quite a few irrisponsible stores in the area. Maybe it's because...
  14. SPS supplier

Yeah, after posting this thread I scrolled down a bit and saw the thread. I completely understand where you are coming from. I actually tried to delete this thread, but couldn't figure it out. It is pretty fierce compitition out here as far as sps goes. I'm always looking to get the upper hand...
  15. SPS supplier

I am looking for a reliable supplier of sps corals. Most of our suppliers we currently have don't have a wide variety of sps. I am looking for unique pieces that are aquacultured or wild colonies. I am looking for LOTS of color. I've got so much blue tipped stags and assorted montipora that my...
